I have much to be thankful for. A faithful husband who is my best friend. Three precious kids for whom I would lay down my life. A dog who goes nuts with happiness every time I return home. A loving and loyal family. Genuine friends. A roof over my head and food on my table. Being able to stay home and teach the kids. A free country. Good books to read. And more, much more.
But to echo Third Day: nothing compares to the greatness of knowing You, Lord.
I am thankful not only for the blessings which come from Your generous hand. I am thankful for who You are. For Your infinite wisdom. For Your tender mercies. For Your faithfulness in keeping Your promises. For the riches of Your Word. For Your immeasurable love. For Your graciousness. For the priceless gift of Your Son.
Thank You for all those times I cried and You saved my tears in a bottle. Thank You for sending me just the right verses or an encouraging friend or a much needed hug when no one else but You knew I needed it. Thank You for all the times I felt like giving up but You gave me the grace to go on for just one more day. Thank You for picking me up and dusting me off every time I fall.
Thank You for planting Your Word in my children's hearts despite my insufficiency. Thank You that I have ears to hear their laughter. Thank You for those moments of joy so sharp that they pierce my heart and give me a fleeting glimpse of heaven. Thank You for the gift of life, here and forevermore.
Thank You, Lord.
Without You, I am nothing.
"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." Psalm 107:1
