A Special Letter

Thankfully, not all mail is junk mail. Sometimes the mail brings very special surprises. Today, Jonathan received an official looking envelope in the mail addressed from the White House. "He wrote back, Mom!" Yes, it was a letter from none other than President George W. Bush!

Dear Jonathan:

Thank you for remembering me in your prayers.

Prayer gives us the opportunity to thank God for His many blessings. During this time in our Nation's history, we pray for the safety of the men and women who fight for our freedom and for peace around the world.

May God bless you, and may God continue to bless America.

Enclosed along with the letter was an 8"x10" photo of the President and First Lady.



After doing a little dance around the living room, Jonathan carefully placed the letter and photo in his notebook. With twinkling eyes, he leaned over and said, "Mom, this is just like another birthday present!"

I guess I'll forgive the mail carrier after all.

"First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, in order that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior." 1 Timothy 2:1-3

    I like how you got your letter from President Bush. And this is really exciting news! I can exercise now. I won almost every time in wrestling against my Dad. And I hope you like your letter from President Bush too.

    And Dear Jonathan,

    Wow! A personal letter from the President of the United States of America. Now that's special. I've never gotten one. In fact, besides you, I don't know of anyone else who has recieved such an honor. I'm quite sure our President was very moved by the fact that you are praying for him. Isn't it great to know that he believes in God just like we do? That makes me feel good. And I know it makes the President very happy. Maybe next time we come over you will show the picture that he sent to us. We'll look forward to that.
