Alan and I received UH sweatshirts from Mom and Dad, just in time for the cold weather and to celebrate the Warriors' invitation to the Sugar Bowl! Elizabeth immediately snagged Daddy's sweatshirt and tried it on. It was a good opportunity to teach her how to make a proper "shaka sign."

Nutmeg received a new dog bed to help alleviate her hip pain. She is scheduled for hip replacement surgery in a month. Unfortunately, she'll have to stay off the dog bed while she recuperates so she's making the most of it now.

My early Christmas gift? The gift of gratitude. After enduring a car accident this past week, I am so thankful that no one got hurt. God protected our family and gave me the precious reminder that life is about being in the moment. I am too often thinking ahead to what I need to get done or thinking back to what I should've done. Living can only be done in the present tense. I needed that reminder.
I am thankful for the grace, mercy and compassion of God. These gifts often come disguised, but they are meant to be unwrapped and savored each and every day. Carpe diem.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, for his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
