Here We Go Again...

All weekend our neighborhood has had flashing signs from the city warning of possible mudslides after the wildfires. We didn't think it pertained to us, but after four warnings--two alert calls from the city, an email alert and a police officer patrolling our street this morning--we have come to the realization that the voluntary evacuation is not a joke.

So here we go again...our evacuation bags are packed, and we're ready to leave at a moment's notice. The dogs are safe at a boarding facility and are getting a bath in the process. :-)

Where we will be Thanksgiving Day? We will be in God's hands, and that is the safest place to be.

In Hebrews 11, also known as the "Hall of Faith," there are lists of people who have demonstrated their faith in God through extremely difficult times in their lives: "By faith, Joseph....", "By faith, Moses...", "By faith, Rahab...." I believe that chapter is still being written in my life and in each of our lives. We have the choice to finish well if we would only keep our eyes on the Lord and trust that He is in the process of perfecting our faith. May that chapter one day state, "By faith, Linda...." and the trial by which God was pleased by my simple trust in Him.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5,6
