A Prayer While Waiting for the Kingdom of God
Give these bones
breath to dance.
Give your people
a song to sing in exile.
Give the mustard seed
roots to grow.
Give Hagar and Ishmael
an oasis to rest.
Give those behind locked doors
a vision of hope.
Give the widow
flour for her bread.
Give the fig tree
fruit to bear.
Give the leper
a temple for his praise.
Give the Easter lily
a reason to bloom.
