After a few unproductive years, what a wonderful sight
it is to see fruit on our apricot trees!

Mama, please take my picture quickly so I can eat
some of these apricots!
I guess I'd better hunt down my apricot jam recipe. :-)
While it's a blessing to see fruit on our trees, I often ask myself if we are bearing spiritual fruit--the fruit of the Spirit.
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23).
Our Pastor reminded us on Sunday that the Christian life is not hard; it's impossible! Impossible, that is, without total dependance on the Lord.
God is gracious to remind me of this truth. My deepest desire is to bear fruit for the Kingdom, but I cannot do it in my own strength. Instead, He wants me to slow down. Be still. Keep a quiet heart. Wait. Listen for His voice. And obey. Especially, obey.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing" John 15:5
