Speechless, But Not Prayerless

The devastation of Hurricane Katrina has left me mostly speechless, but not prayerless. If I had to sum up my feelings, I'd echo those of Teri Fode: Sad. Angry. Disturbed. Hopeful.

One relief organization doing a mighty work in the name of Christ: Samaritan's Purse.

I came across an old journal of mine the other day. Though I had written these words years ago, they ministered to my heart afresh. An unexpected gift of words.

God allowed John to be banished to the island of Patmos. He probably felt isolated and lonely, but it was there where God wanted to reveal His glorious vision, and use him in a privileged way. He saw the victorious Christ face to face!

Perhaps I am on my Patmos. Instead of complaining or trying to be rescued, I need to submit my will—to "fall at his feet as a dead man"—not wrestling anymore, so that I, too, can see His glorious vision.

"Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." Luke 21:28
