The coolest thing that happened to us this week:
On Thursday, we were among 80 homeschoolers who gathered together at City Hall to embark on our first National Day of Prayer Kids' Prayer Walk. We walked through the city and prayed for our mayor, city council, fire and police departments, churches and schools as well as for our nation and world. The policemen not only encouraged the kids to keep praying, they treated us to an incredible tour of their station. It was a sweet time of fellowship, and I especially loved hearing the kids pray. Like music to my ears!
The second coolest thing that happened to us this week:
Driving home from Awana on Wednesday night, we suddenly spotted a huge ball of fire rocketing through the sky. It seemed so close to us that it appeared to land in our neighborhood! We had no idea what it was. When we arrived home five minutes later, Alan submitted a sighting report to an astronomy organization. The next day, he received confirmation that we had had the rare privilege of witnessing a meteor!

How do you like this "tablecloth"? Elizabeth has been
painting again.
The third coolest thing that happened to me this week:
I looked out the kitchen window the other day to see my roses in full bloom. This was a special gift from the Lord because for the first time in years I did not prune my roses this past winter. (Shhh...don't let the rose police know!) I felt guilty about it, but life happens and I never got around to the chore. I'm planning to redeem myself as a rose mama and trim them before the fall flush, but for now I am basking in God's grace and enjoying the sweet fragrance of all the blooms.
"As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy." 1 Timothy 6:17
