The irony of it all is that last post was about being a Rockin Girl Blogger, and this blog hasn't been rockin' lately!
Sorry about the lack of posts; it's been crazy busy here. So many homeschoolers I know have been struggling with juggling their many commitments. Count me in as one of them!
We have entered full swing into our fall season with school, Royal Rangers, Taekwondo, weekly co-op classes, field trips, nursing home ministry, church and the usual assortment of birthday parties, and doctor, dentist and vet appointments.
Whew!
After the kids are in bed, I am the Google Queen doing research on whatever is my obsession of the moment--the gluten/casein free diet, learning styles, supplements, therapies, homeschool curricula--and answering emails, all while munching on Trader Joes sugar free chocolate covered almonds. They're very addicting. I might have to google for a support group.
By the time I remember I'm supposed to post to my blog, it's time to go to bed. Which is okay by me because by then my brain is ready to pass out.
I've been asking myself: why do we wear busyness as a badge of honor? I don't remember reading in the Bible anywhere that we are called to running to and fro, but rather to "be still, and know that I am God."
So through this busy season, I've been praying and asking God for an extra measure of strength and wisdom. I've been asking Him to speak to me, and to direct me according to His ways. It's amazing that He condescends to speak to me, even as my eye is on the clock while I'm sitting at His feet. He is very gracious.
Lately it seems as though He's been speaking mostly in singular words. Maybe it's because that's been the gist of my attention span.
I've jotted some of these words down:
Quiet.
Simplify.
Prune.
Slow down.
Focus.
Encourage.
Pray.
Love.
Words I need engraved on my heart. Thank You, Lord.
One thing I love about God is that His still, small voice is persistent. He is loving. He doesn't give up on me. He keeps on speaking.
Even when I'm listening with just one ear.
"Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" And Samuel answered, "Speak, for Your servant hears."" 1 Samuel 3:10
