We transferred Daddy successfully to hospice a week ago, and the staff there has been nothing short of stellar. We continue to thank God for the way He has provided for all of our needs.
While he was in the hospital last week, I left a notepad for him on the side table. Daddy has always recorded his thoughts on a notepad. Sometimes he would send me his writings, usually not in the form of letters but random thoughts on a page. I didn't know if he would be up to writing but I left the notepad and his favorite pen just in case.
The next day I found a page of scribblings. His handwriting was still amazingly strong and clear, with no trembling detected. At the top he had written his name and the words, "2009 worksheet." In addition to other tasks, he had written twice, "To continue relationship with Jesus Christ."
How encouraging it was to me that in spite of his mental confusion he was thinking about the Lord.
The Lord is so faithful to provide evidences of His mercy. They are all around us, if we would only open our spiritual eyes to see them.
“His purposes will ripen fast, unfolding every hour; the bud may have a bitter taste, but sweet will be the flower." ~ William Cowper
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
