With God All Things Are Possible

Today we received a miraculous answer to prayer. A hospice facility accepted Daddy as a patient and permanently waived all room and board fees, which run thousands every month! We praise our gracious and faithful God!

This approval came just in the nick of time as Daddy is being released early tomorrow morning from the hospital. We will be taking him directly from the hospital to the hospice facility. Thank you to all our faithful friends who have been praying!

What a week it's been--full of joys and sorrows, exhaustion, a myriad of decisions, spiritual battles--and yet through it all, the keen awareness of God's loving presence.

The kids have been singing hymns and I’ve been reading Scripture to him. We’ve also been praying over him. Daddy seems less fearful, more at peace. He had a small window of mental clarity on Wednesday, but most of the time he struggles with finding the words he needs to express his thoughts.

We had a precious conversation yesterday. I asked Daddy if he had any wishes, anything he wanted to do or see. He thought a long time and said, “The book you had….” I wasn’t sure what he meant. I said, “Book? Which book are you talking about?” He kept saying, “The book….the book…..” Finally he added, “God’s Word.” I said, “Oh, the Bible?” He nodded yes. “You like it when I read the Bible to you?” He nodded yes. (Earlier I had read him the passage about Jesus saying that His Father’s house had many mansions, and that He was going to prepare a place for him.)

I said, “Daddy, you know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, right? He nodded yes, so I started talking about heaven. I told him that Jesus would be waiting for him, and that there would be no more sorrow, no more pain. He would see his mom and brother there. I said that he would be waiting for us; when it was our turn, we would join him and be with him forever. We wouldn’t have to say goodbye. He seemed to be hanging onto every word, and he had a very peaceful countenance about him. Thank you, Jesus!

I also told him what a great Daddy he’s been to me and how thankful I was for everything he’s done for me.

Please pray for Daddy’s transition to the hospice tomorrow to go smoothly, He cried when he realized he cannot return to his old apartment. Pray that he would feel comfortable and at peace there. We are so grateful for your prayers.
