Daddy's Memorial at Sea

Today was my Daddy's birthday. He would've been 94. We celebrated his life with a memorial at sea to scatter his ashes. It turned out to be a gorgeous day, perfect in every way.

We were so blessed to have Captain Windsor at the helm.

The serene harbor whispered peace.

Dolphins galore came out to pay tribute.

So did sea lions and a friendly pelican who visited up close.

We brought a variety of flowers. Calla lilies from our garden...

And orchids reminiscent of Hawaii.

When it was time to lower the ashes, we prayed, sang Amazing Grace, and recited Psalm 23. Then we tossed our flowers into the deep blue sea.

The ocean sparkled like diamonds in the sunshine. We watched the floating blossoms as we sailed away and could see them no more.

The memorial was over too soon, but the memories will remain forever.

Daddy is celebrating his birthday with Jesus. My sorrow is eclipsed by joy.

"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have loosed my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness." Psalm 30:11
