Beholding

Butterfly, watercolor by Elizabeth

At the start of every year, I ask God for a personal word and verse for the year. It is something I wait for with anticipation and excitement.

My word for 2013: Beholding.

My verse for the year: "We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord" (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Beholding = Becoming.

What will I behold? I must be intentional, for what I behold I will become. My prayer is that I will behold all that is true, good, and beautiful.

The world is not my treasure. I will behold Jesus!

"Thus says the LORD, who makes a way  in the sea and a path through the mighty waters, 'Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.'" Isaiah 43:16, 18-19
