Big Plans for Shadow's Christmas
Elizabeth: I'm going to get her a Christmas collar. A purple collar. Then I'm going to put cotton underneath it so it is very soft. And bells on the outside so she will make music when she walks. And I will buy her lots and lots of little bones.

Big Plans for Decorating the Home
Elizabeth: Oh, I'm going to put stars everywhere and hang paper snowflakes!

Checking Stockings on Saint Nicholas Day
In which Jonathan checks out his Hot Wheels Monster Truck and says, "Whoa, Mom, this is no ordinary present!"

Conversation before bedtime. I ask, "Daniel, do you know what Christmas is all about?" He tilts his head, nods, then replies, "Thanksgiving!"

  1. Oh! You just make my heart want to burst with joy. What wonderful things to remember. I hope you get the pretty paper, too, but don't feel slighted if you don't. It's still a wonderful gift.

  3. I think I'd like one of those gift-wrapped self-discipline things, too. Either that, or gift-wrapped control of my tongue.

I love your son't definition of what Christmas is all about!
