Family Update & Resources

Thank you for your outpouring of concern, love and support, and especially for lifting us up in prayer! Thanks also to Shadow for being my blog sub. Good doggie; you get a pig's ear! ;-)

We received the boys' test results. Both Jonathan and Daniel tested HIGH for Mercury and other heavy metals. The good news is that we have found a highly respected, experienced homeopathic MD who has agreed to take on all three kids as patients . He is miraculously “in network” for our PPO. (What are the odds of that? God is faithful.) We’ve talked to two families whose children have gone through chelation therapy with this doctor and both have been pleased.

I am scheduled to have my remaining dental amalgams replaced in the coming weeks. Alan had his amalgams replaced last year. We will be going through chelation therapy along with the kids, so this will be a family affair. :-)

Many people have asked me how they can find out more about the heavy metal toxicity issue. Below you'll find a list of resources if you are interested in learning more. Heavy metal toxicity has been linked to Autism, Asperger’s, ADD/ADHD, Alzheimer's, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, learning disabilities, asthma, allergies and many other symptoms. (FYI--many doctors consider Attention Deficit Disorder--with or without Hyperactivity--and certain learning disabilities to be on the Autism Spectrum.) I am not suggesting that parents need to rush to have their kids tested, but I do hope and pray that our family situation has brought awareness to an important health issue.

I don't want to turn this blog into a medical journal, so I won't be posting every detail about our chelation protocol unless there is something interesting or important to share. As parents, we are appointed as guardians, mentors and advocates for our children. This is not a burden but a blessing. We delight to watch them grow and develop to be all they can be--intellectually, physically and, most of all, spiritually. Our kids are enthusiastic, resilient and adventurous; they greet each new day with smiles at all the possibilities! They face the future with trust in our guidance; we face the future with trust in the guidance of our Heavenly Father.

God is good, and the joy of the Lord is our strength. We thank and praise Him for His grace, mercy and faithfulness to our family. We look forward to leaning on His everlasting arms in the coming days, moment by moment.
