Reason # 347

Alan and I thank you all for the special anniversary blessings!

From Donna in the comment box: Oh, I hope you will do something special! Did you get gifts for one another? Were you married in the church you attend now? I would love to see a wedding photo :o)

We had a wonderful anniversary. I'm still smiling! Alan took me to our favorite Persian restaurant. It was great to get away together, just the two of us. We talked and talked and talked. After dinner, we went shopping for bookshelves! Isn't that romantic? I think so! :-)

I bought a card for Alan but forgot to give it to him. Old age! I will remember tonight, I promise. He sent me a gorgeous bouquet of red and white roses, stargazer lilies, orchids, calla lilies, snapdragons, alstroemeria and red berries. All my favorites!

We exchanged our wedding vows in a beautiful little glass chapel on a hill overlooking the ocean. (Didn't start attending our current church until a few months later.) People said that my hand trembled when it was my turn to light the candle. I don't remember that, but I do remember the pastor reciting 1 Corinthians 13. And I remember our first kiss as husband and wife and Alan immediately suprising me with a crushing hug that resulted in a lipstick mark on his tuxedo lapel.

I'll scan and post a wedding photo later if I don't forget. ;-) In the meantime, here's one of my favorite shots of Alan taken two years ago:

Let me share a special story about my husband. It happened on a date night a while back. We decided to go to a funky little diner we had read about in the paper. While we were eating, three policemen came in and sat down to eat at a nearby table. Alan glanced at them and said how much he admired their facing such a tough job every day. He decided to do something nice for them and arranged to pay for their dinners anonymously before we left. They never knew who did it.

Alan has never told anyone this story.

This is reason # 347 why I'm blessed to be his wife.

"And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13

  1. Oh, a Belated Happy Anniversary, Linda! I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to stop by yesterday.

You sound like you have a very caring, empathetic husband. I'm sure the example he sets for your children will one they remember as they become adults.

I would love to go to a Persian restuarant...not too much luck in that where we are...we'd have to go to the Big City for that. Maybe sometime soon.

Congratulations, Linda. Your faithfulness and heart are a continual blessing to me.

  4. OK, so let me get this straight- he's thoughtful, romantic, fun to be around, handsome (as evidenced by the photo!), Godly, and generous! How fun!

That dude looks like he's not getting enough sleep; he must be overworked judgind from those bags under his eyes. Maybe his family should send him away on a golf vacation.

Or perhaps they should try to get his mind off of the durgery of daily life with an R/C helicopter. Not a cheap one mind you. Yup, yup, that family should throw caution to the wind and go all out.

Is anyone with me on this?

    Anyway, Happy Anniversary honey!

  6. Hon, you don't look tired at all in the photo. I think you look CUTE! :-) Besides, I took this shot on our vacation in Hawaii. Where could you be more relaxed than that?

As for the R/C Helicopter...if you're very, very good...maybe you'll see your wish come true on your birthday. IF you're very, very good. ;-)

    Love you!
