What a month! Every year, October is usually full of wonderful memories for our family. Lest anyone think we live a trouble-free life, however, a healthy dose of reality is in order. Here's what life dished up for us the last few weeks:
Stomach Flu: All three kids caught the nasty, nasty bug. Alan and I had lots of fun staying up nights. NOT.
Trip to the ER: Daniel fell and cut his cheek, requiring stitches. 5th trip to the ER for our two boys combined. But who's counting?
Camera Woes: Though I've been eyeing a new camera lately, I wasn't ready for my current one to go on the blink just yet. I lost half the photos taken at yesterday's field trip.
Medical Insurance: Alan's company is changing carriers for the coming year. I won't name names, but it's not our top choice. Not our second, third or fourth choice either.
Abs Diet Dropout: Need I say more?
But I won't give in to complaining. In the grand scheme of things, these are light and momentary afflictions, working in us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). These are the times we remind ourselves of Romans 8:28.
I'm counting my blessings. No matter what we're going through at any given time, God still remains good. He is still sovereign. He is still worthy to be praised.
That's my daily reality check. :-)
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." Romans 8:18
