Ordinary People

I knew I liked Jan Karon. In her latest newsletter, the author of the Mitford books writes: "While I'm thinking of it, I'd like to encourage all homeschool moms, dads and students. You are, as I'm sure you often realize, doing what most people would find impossible. Homeschooling is a challenging calling, and the One who calls will be there in your classroom to help you get the job done. He is the Great Principal, the Loving Headmaster, to Whom you can turn with every question, every problem, every need. Hats in the air to homeschool families everywhere."

Isn't that encouraging? Thank you, Jan!

There is a myth circulating that says in order to be a homeschooler you need to be superhuman. I occasionally get the comment, as many homeschoolers probably do: "I don't know how you do it; I know I couldn't do it!" These comments make me scratch my head. What do they mean? I'm just an ordinary woman. However, I do serve an extraordinary God! And there is no limit to what our extraordinary God can do through an ordinary someone like you or me.

Nancy Leigh DeMoss says, "God specializes in using ordinary people whose limitations and weaknesses make them ideal showcases for His greatness and glory."

Do you consider yourself ordinary?

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
